Extracurriculars
By putting children at the heart of the community we commit to providing the highest quality of education, creating a safe and inspiring learning environment where children can learn and develop their skills by making free choices and having the opportunity to be independent on their journey of discovery.
Local walksThere’s a bit of magic inside every outing with nursery children. Something as simple as a walk can inspire new interests, build confidence and can be the perfect springboard for hours of play once they are back at the setting. The journey is one of the most important parts of any nursery trip. It’s one of the best ways for children to explore the world around them (safely of course).
Within a short distance of the nursery we have access to a woodland trail, a park, local shops (including the all important post office) and a beach. We can't go on a walk every day, but we try to get out and about as much as we can. |
Queens Manor Care HomeIn 2018 we started making links with several local care homes. Children would visit in small groups and take part in activities with the residents. Feedback was so positive, that we wanted to make these visits more regular. And as luck would have it, a new facility was completed in late 2018 right across the road from the nursery.
As of January 2019, we have partnered with our neighbours at Queens Manor Care Home to arrange weekly visits. We dance, paint, cook and have fun with the residents and their friends. It's great to see our children interacting with the residents - both parties get so much from their time together and always have a great time. |
Eco-SchoolsFor more than 20 years Eco-Schools has been empowering children to drive change and improve their environmental awareness through the same simple seven-step process that has been used successfully across the world. Flying Colours Nursery are working toward achieving their green flag.
