I am happy to announce that Flying Colours Nursery, Barnton, will be open from the 26th of September 2016. The nursery interest register is available here, and by filling in your details you will be invited to our open days. Rates are available on the website here, should you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.
We are planning to hold preview days in early September. Once again, if you would like to attend one of these dates and you have not already, please fill in the interest register here and we will be in contact with full details.
This week, Will, our landscape gardener from Edinburgh's Botanic Gardens, has been hard at work creating our Eco Garden. This will include various raised beds for planting, seating and preparation areas for the children, a bug hotel, a willow archway and various murals which will make our garden a beautiful and exciting place for both children and adults.
The building is starting to take shape, with the Orange, Pink and Blue rooms on the bottom floor all nearing completion. New fire detectors, energy efficient LED lighting and environmentally friendly heating have been installed throughout.
I am happy to announce that the nursery interest register is now open and available on request. By filling in your details you will be given priority on viewings, open days and registering for a place. We are on track to open towards the end of September and plan to communicate a fixed opening date within the next few weeks.
Rates have now been finalised and are available on the website here. Please note that in order to insure the best quality of care, the minimum number of sessions will be two full-days or two half-days. This will be reviewed against capacity and staff numbers as we grow.
The interviewing process is in full swing with interviews taking place for nursery practitioners and room leaders. The quality of candidate has been very high and I am pleased to let you know that offers of employment have been accepted by three candidates with more to follow.
This month we have been busy collaborating with the various governmental agencies, in particular, The Care Inspectorate, ensuring we meet and indeed exceed the strict standards laid down in their registration process. As part of this, extensive alterations will be undertaken on the premises. The aim is that we provide the ideal layout, environment and facilities for our staff and children.
We are delighted to report that our “Building Warrant” application was approved by the City Council Planning Department on the 10th May. In addition, the Care Inspectorate has informed us that we have completed the first phase of registration. Whilst we are on schedule to open in the second half of the year, it should be emphasised that we are not yet advertising an opening date.
An area of focus for May has been the nursery garden and its facilities. Our large, safe and secure garden will offer endless opportunities for our children to partake in outdoor activities. One such activity will be growing vegetables and herbs in our allotment, whilst learning how to care for our environment.
The development of our website www.flyingcoloursnursery.co.uk is on-going. Features will be continuously added as we progress through the registration process and details become available.
Although not confirmed, several details are in the process of being finalised.
